Our client would like to fill the position of an Accountant who will be reporting to the Finance Manager.

Job Purpose/Summary
The job holder is responsible for providing accurate and reliable financial reports, and ensuring the integrity of financial data for the business entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform all accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions with deep understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
• Preparation of the company's consolidated financial statements, general ledger, portfolio accounting, payroll, accounts payable, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses or projects.
• Take charge of month end procedures and timelines
• Assist with testing and receive final approval for accounting software reports required for management, financial reporting and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with annual external audit. Complete requested materials.
• Maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual and interim audit.

Reporting and Analysis
• Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports.
• Be able to set up accounting books and procedures for new countries
• Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
• Assist with completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings; preparation of assigned quarterly and annual statutory statement pages/schedules.
• Production of daily, weekly, monthly reconciliations covering disbursements, repayments and net cash, third party contracts e.g. M-PESA.

• Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.
• Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA (K)/ACCA certification.
• 5 years ‘working experience in the accounting & finance sector in a similar role.
• Knowledge in business budgeting, accounting and taxation as applicable to Kenyan businesses, Ledger Maintenance.
• Experience in public accounting will be added advantage
• Strong Microsoft Office skills in Excel are desirable.
• Practical experience using generic Accounting software such as QuickBooks.

• Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
