Sales & Distribution Manager

Our client is a global business company specializing on LED lighting solutions and renewable energy solutions for off-grid areas which include solar and clean cooking solutions. They supply clean cooking stoves for both households and institutions providing clean and efficient cooking energy. They also provide business development and commercial consultancy services on clean cooking, electrical works and supplies, lighting technology and off grid solar power solutions to clientele across the East Africa market.

In line with the business demands driven by rapid growth, they are looking for a qualified, highly competent results driven individual to fill the position of a Sales & Distribution Manager. The role reports to the Commercial & Innovations Director.

Job Purpose/Summary
The job holder will drive the establishment of a suitable sales strategy, planning and management of the day-to-day sales process and will be responsible for the acquisition of and development of distribution partners in specified territories. The position will also be responsible for collaborating in the design of business development initiatives to sell products and services and identify viable business opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop new strategies, tactics, and plans for future growth of company’s market share and outreach.
• Develop strategies and tactics for profitable revenue growth within the various channels and ensure the sales volumes are achievable according to the sales plan.
• Identify new commercial opportunities and drive business growth.
• Compile weekly summary and monthly reports on sales forecast and an analysis on competitors.
• Develop and coordinate the execution of the sales business plan.
• Set up sales targets, quality sales and sales strategy in line with sales operation policies and processes.
• Maximise the sales through existing channels and identify new channels to establish and develop the sales and service structure.
• Oversee the planning and organizing of the company’s sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for each territory/segment.
• Generate reports based on facts to be presented before the senior level managers and shareholders.
• Meet the sales target set within the given deadline with restricted territory and accounts.
• Build up a better customer relationship, understand their needs, and try to make them satisfied without compromising with the company profits.
• Maintain responsibility for full sales cycle from opportunity identification through negotiation and closing of sale with a heavy focus prospecting
• Represent the company’s business policies in various conferences, trade fairs and networking events to attract more clients.
• Represent and promote the firm’s image by developing and maintaining business relationships with existing and potential clients and key business and community leaders.
• Participate in establishing, developing and maintaining business relationships with partners, customers and distributors.
• Represent and promote the company’s product offering and services at industry related trade fairs, conferences and networking events with the aim of growing business.
• Effectively communicate the value proposals with different presentations.
• Coordinate the sales operations with all the other departments of the company.
• Establish performance goal for each sales employee and monitor if the employee is able to meet up the expectations or not.
• Continuously motivate the sales team, and inspire them to stay focused on company’s goals.
• Participate in establishing, developing and maintaining business relationships with partners, customers and distributors.
• Participate in budget planning and the close follow-up of actual monthly expenses as opposed to budget.
• Monitor market trends and regulation changes to ensure the evolution of current practices.
• Communicates the company's value proposition to existing and prospective customers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any Business related field.
• An MBA will be added advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years’ relevant sales and business development experience is highly desirable
• Experience in selling and setting up distributions sales channels for solar products will be an added advantage.
• Prior selling experience mainly targeting women groups, CBOs and Chamaas is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in developing distribution channels and ability to drive a commercial agenda.
